So You Think YOUR Night Was Crappy…

We have had our first less than pleasant AirBnB experience. When we first arrived, we were excited by how nice it was. We were soon puzzled when we could only find 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in the 5 bedroom / 3 bathroom house we rented. We noticed a door with a deadbolt that was hanging unlocked and let ourselves in. Behold! The missing bedroom and bathroom!
The next thing to go was the furnace. It has a reset light switch that you have to turn off and on to restart. Frequently. And it doesn’t always work. It is also blocked by a large SUV so you have to be really skinny and squeeze between the wall and the vehicle with bicycles in your way.
Last night took the cake though. As we were showering off the stink of the races, sewage started bubbling up into both downstairs showers. We literally had turds popping up out of the drain. It was not cool. We spent time messaging with the homeowner who is in Iraq who seemed to know exactly what we needed to do. Then Joe (not all heroes wear capes) cleaned the bathrooms thoroughly. As of now we are staying. We’ll see.

Bitter Stars Fan

The 2018-2019 NHL season was a tough one for Dallas Stars fans. The Stars were inches away from the Western Conference Finals. But it was not meant to be. The Blues won it and went on to win the Stanley Cup. I’m still bitter. So any chance I get to make fun of the Blues is welcomed. Like this gentleman at Chili Bowl who got his Blues coat stuck to something in his back pocket and started dragging it through the dirt.
Right where it belongs.
Inmate #46 Checking In

Practice has started at the 34th Chili Bowl and we are ready to go! The infield is small and only authorized individuals are permitted there. In order to keep tabs on the riff raff photographers (some of whom really need to be tracked), we are each assigned a numbered vest. I always joke that we look like prisoners on work release.
Heading Out to Tulsa Time!

Tim used to have an easy time packing his car for a racing trip. Then I came along. Two sets of camera equipment (he shoots Nikon, I’m a Canon girl), special food (I recently lost 120 lbs), extra things to keep warm (weight loss = always cold), and just general female “Oh I might need this!” stuff fills his car to the brim. He makes it fit every single time!
We’re on our way to one of the greatest races of the year! 350+ midgets indoors in Tulsa vying for that coveted Golden Driller. If you have never been or have no idea what I am talking about, check out http://chilibowl.com. If you go once, you will go every year. The people, the racing, and the experience is unrivaled.
